Location
If you can bear to tear yourself away, the charming sandy beach at Paliolinos is close by as is the village of Spartia with its pretty narrow winding streets offering a number of traditional tavernas, café, bars and a handful of mini-markets. The stunning sandy beach of Avithos, with its sunbeds, umbrellas and popular beach bar serving snacks and cool drinks throughout the day is a mere ten minute drive from the house. The charming resort of Lourdas with more extensive facilities is a short drive away, as is the island capital Argostoli, both well worth visiting. For a great day out, why not explore the Mazarakata tombs, Monasteries of St Andrew and St Gerasimos which are only a only a 30 minute’ drive, perfect for those interested in the history and culture of the island. Water sports are available at Lourdas Bay in high season and include jet skiing and kayaking. Organised day trips to the neighbouring islands of Ithaka and Zante, can be booked locally. Horse and donkey riding are available on the outskirts of Sami, about an hour's drive from the villa.
